Alford Craftmarket in the Alford Corn Exchange on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th April
Alford’s famous Craft Market will be holding it’s Easter Fair in the Corn Exchange, Market Place each day from Good Friday till Easter Monday.
This year over 20 stalls including some new craftspeople will be selling their hand made goods including jewellery, wood turning, cards, toys, painting, photography, fudge and collectable teddy bears. Opening times are between 10 am and 4 pm, and as always admission is free.

“Southern Softies” – the new film staring John Shuttleworth

“Southern Softies” – the new film staring John Shuttleworth is being shown at Loewen Cinema on Friday February 26. John Shuttleworth will be there to introduce his film and play his Yamaha keyboard prior to the film being shown. The Performance starts at 7.30pm and will end with John answering questions.


Sports Relief Miles on Sunday 21 March 2010

ELDC Neighbourhood Management are hosting one of the Sainsburys Sports Relief Miles on Sunday 21 March 2010

and needs local people to show their support by entering now at www.sportrelief.com. The 1, 3 and 6 miles will start from just outside the R.N.L.I. building on Mablethorpe seafront.

Debbie Prince, ELDC Neighbourhood Projects Officer commented “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is her and it’s your time to shine. From teeny tots with their mums and Dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day – whether you do 1,3 or 6 miles. Best of all, the money you raise by getting sponsored will be used to transform lives forever. So come on everyone rise to the challenge!!

Hundreds of thousands of people across the country will rise to the challenge at the Sainsburys Sports Relief Mile whether they do 1, 3 or 6 miles. Comic Relief will spend the money raised through sponsorship helping poor and vulnerable people both here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

MABLETHORPE Town Centre Partnership Board

MABLETHORPE’S Interim Town Centre Partnership Board has now been formed and the 12 members of the Board are already looking at how they can bring together local organisations to share a single vision for the town.

The Interim Partnership Board is made up of representatives from the Private, Public and Voluntary Sectors.  When the Interim Board met for the first time on January 14, 2010, Fiona Carruthers who works for the Lincolnshire School Improvement Service was appointed Chairman and John Clarke from Mablethorpe based Linx Model Works was appointed Vice-Chairman.

Mablethorpe’s Town Centre Manager, Karen Froggatt, who is employed by East Lindsey District Council, said: “Now that the Interim Board has been established we can really look at how we can all work together to improve Mablethorpe and develop a single vision that we can all work towards.  We need to make sure Mablethorpe continues to thrive and to do this we need input from the whole community.  This is a very exciting time for Mablethorpe so please don’t miss the opportunity to be involved.”

The Town Centre Partnership Workshop is taking place later this month where representatives from the local community and local businesses will meet to discuss their views on how the town should move forward.

East Lindsey District Council has appointed Town Centre Managers in Louth, Mablethorpe and Skegness.  They have a remit to develop an effective Town Centre Partnership for each town that encourages local organisations to work more closely together to work towards to a single vision for the local area.

Tourists firmly endorse Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea as family favourites; as increased visitor numbers help traders avoid the harsh effects of the recession.

With UK holiday makers opting for Local destinations this year, Many visitors, choosing Mablethorpe for the first time, discovered the simple pleasures of our family resorts provide great value for money and make ‘the holiday purse’ stretch further. Many have promised to return.

Accommodation providers report short stay breaks being most popular, with those members who have upgraded their premises to obtain Star Ratings enjoying the best results.

Mablethorpe Town Centre Manager

Karen Froggatt has been appointed as Mablethorpe’s Town Centre Manager and took up her post on Monday, September 26.

Karen brings with her a wealth of experience from the business and customer service sectors and has a background in tourism.

In her first few weeks , Karen is focusing on meeting the local business people in Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe to introduce herself and get an understanding of the business needs for the area.

“When I first visited Mablethorpe I recognised the charm of the town but at the same time the need to build on the excellent work done in the community to progress regeneration and investment opportunities. Obviously attracting more visitors is a priority and encouraging local people to be even prouder of where they live,”

Karen said. “Mablethorpe has a lot to offer and we need to build on the success of the Neighbourhood Management Programme and ensure the work I do compliments the other projects underway in the area.”

Beautiful Beach Hut competition

The Beautiful Beach Hut competition is part of the Festival of Bathing Beauties and is for the private beach hut owners of Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea and Sandilands. This year the event was sponsored by TL Risk Solutions, Systematic Print and The Tourism Forum. Over twenty private beach hut owners took part and there was a real carnival atmosphere along the prom with the huts decked out in different themes, hutters dressed up, serving tea,cake and thorougly enjoying and adding to the atmosphere of the Festival of Bathing Beauties.
